RODGERS IN BRASILIA
Since December 2008, the Memorial Baptist Church of Brasilia has had a Rodgers Trillium Masterpiece organ 908. The instrument – consisting of three manuals, a pedalboard with 32 notes and a module that aggregates more than 1,200 sounds and timbres – was installed by professionals from the Roland Technical Center.
In its debut, the model was used during the dedication service and the concert of the organist Handel Cecílio, from Belo Horizonte, who performed pieces by renowned authors, such as Henry Purcell, Léon Boëllmann, Johann Sebastian Bach, Amaral Vieira and Georg Philipp Telemann. The IMB’s minister of music and worship, Anderson Silveira Motta, believes that the new instrument has an engaging sound and is perfectly suited to the liturgical musical style. “It has been exciting to sing hymns of praise to God with its support,” he says.
