I had the honor of participating as organist in a remarkable series of eighteen concerts of Georg Friedrich Handel’s masterpiece “The Messiah” in Portugal. These concerts took place in a number of renowned venues across the country, including the cities of Lisbon, Porto, Lagos and Faro, encompassing some of Portugal’s most prestigious cultural spaces.
Each performance was a celebration of Baroque music, bringing together talented musicians and an enthusiastic audience for high-level artistic experiences. My work as an organist was not limited to concerts; I also contributed as a liturgical organist at services held in local churches, enriching the celebrations with the unique sound of the organ.
This project was coordinated by conductor Dr. Rawlianne Rangel, whose leadership was fundamental to the success of the series. She worked in music in Portugal for several years, standing out for her brilliant musical work in the areas of singing, creating choirs, conducting and leading music in churches. She also stood out for having formed several disciples in sacred music.
Due to the absence of the physical programs of the concerts, the conductor has kindly issued a supporting document attesting to my participation and artistic contribution throughout this musical journey.
Taking part in this series of concerts not only consolidated my international professional experience, but also reinforced my commitment to the dissemination of classical music. It was a unique opportunity to connect cultures through music, bringing the magnificence of “O Messias” to Portuguese audiences and contributing to the enrichment of the European music scene.
