EBM’s pre-university music student is approved at UEMG [Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais]
Estudante do pré-vestibular de Música da EBM é aprovada na UEMG
A lot of talent combined with hours of study. These were the main “ingredients” that led student Clarissa Carvalho to be approved at the Music entrance exam of the State University of Minas Gerais (UEMG). The young woman was prepared by the Baptist School of Music (EBM) [https://redebatista.edu.br], where she attended the Music pre-vestibular. With the achievement, Clarissa will study to become a bachelor in Cello.
This was the student’s second attempt to earn a place in Higher Education. The previous time, she chose to study alone and did not get enough points in the theoretical test of the entrance exam. “The practical test had 10 questions, and the theoretical one, six. I ‘closed’ the six questions of the theoretical test! I believe this helped me a lot to pass”, she says.
Approved in first place in the Bachelor’s Degree in Cello at UEMG, Clarissa credits this victory to the teachings acquired during the pre-vestibular program at EBM. “During the classes, we worked a lot on the issue of the ear, as we also went through the audio questions covered in the entrance exam. So I could understand why a certain alternative was wrong or right. The doubts were also clarified. The didactics helped me a lot to be able to absorb the content “, he highlights.
Pleasant surprise
Passionate about the cello since she was little, Clarissa entered the world of music at the age of 12 after being selected to participate in a social project of the Sesc Chamber Orchestra. “There were options to choose to play violin, orchestra viola, double bass and cello. Because I was very small, they (the social project) wanted me to start with the violin, but I decided to play the cello,” she recalls.
At that time, she could not have imagined that the taste for the instrument was “family”. “When I got home after that first day of the social project, I told my mom that I was going to start playing the cello. Then she took out of the closet something I didn’t know what it was: a cello! My mother studied cello many years ago, around the same time she started her Fine Arts degree, and then stopped playing. I didn’t know that when I chose the instrument”, she says.
To this day, Clarissa uses that same cello and intends, in the future, to work in an orchestra. “My main focus is to be part of the Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra. After graduation, I intend to spend time in Germany to do a master’s degree. I also want to teach in the area”, he shares.
