Concert at the School Santa Marcelina: Organist Handel Cecilio and Orchestra
Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Installation of the Pipe Organ of Colégio Santa Marcelina & the Graduation of Organist Handel Cecilio in piano, by UEMG – State University of Minas Gerais, on December 19, 2004.

The year 2004 marks the 40th anniversary of the installation of the pipe organ in the chapel of Colégio Santa Marcelina. The organ was blessed on October 11, 1964 and placed in the choir of the chapel. The solemnity, offered as a tribute of gratitude to Our Lady of Aparecida, was officiated by the Most Rev. Monsignor Juvenal Honório dos Santos, and chanted by the Most Rev. Father Luiz Frizon, chaplain of the College.” The acquisition of this organ was undertaken by the Superior Maria Rachel Pires, herself an accomplished organist. The construction, tailor-made for the chapel, is the work of the Balbiani Vegezzi Bossi house in Milan. The assembly in Belo Horizonte was carried out by Pedro Inglada Sanmarti, who took care of the technical maintenance until 1978. This is the largest pipe organ in Minas Gerais.

Handel Cecilio: Organist and pianist. He is professor and coordinator of the course of Sacred Music at the Seminário Teológico Batista Mineiro and Vice-President of the Associação Amigos do Órgão Lobo de Mesquita which is in charge of the restoration project of the organ of the Igreja do Carmo in Diamantina.

O ano de 2004 assinala os 40 anos da instalação do órgão de tubos na capela do Colégio Santa Marcelina. A Bênção do órgão, se realizou no dia 11 de outubro de 1964 que foi colocado no coro da capela. A solenidade, oferecida em homenagem de gratidão a Nossa Senhora Aparecida, foi oficiada pelo Revmo. Mons. Juvenal Honório dos Santos e acolitado pelo Revmo. Padre Luiz Frizon, capelão do Colégio.” A aquisição deste órgão foi empreendida pela Superiora Maria Rachel Pires, ela mesma exímia organista. A construção, sob medida para a capela, é obra da casa Balbiani Vegezzi Bossi, em Milão. A montagem em Belo Horizonte foi feita por Pedro Inglada Sanmarti que cuidou da manutenção técnica até 1978. Este é o maior órgão de tubos em Minas Gerais.

Handel Cecilio: Organista e pianista. É professor e coordenador do curso de Música Sacras do Seminário Teológico Batista Mineiro e Vice-Presidente da Associação Amigos do Órgão Lobo de Mesquita que está a frente do projeto de restauração do órgão da Igreja do Carmo em Diamantina.
