The Baptist School of Music (EBM) [https://redebatista.edu.br] is with a supernova this semester! Now, the school offers the “Preparatory Course for Music entrance exam”. The course is aimed at all those interested in taking the entrance exam in the area and aims to prepare them according to the theoretical and practical content required in these selective processes. “The course seeks to meet a real need of candidates for the Music entrance exam, as other pre-university courses, in general, do not propose in the grid the instruction for the specific tests of music theory and do not prepare students for the performance of the musical instrument”, points out the director of EBM, professor Dr. Handel Cecílio.
As explained by Professor Weberson Almeida, the curriculum of the EBM course covers both the content of the entrance exam in the area of licensure and the bachelor’s degree in instruments, singing, conducting or composition for music universities in the State, among them: Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), State University of Minas Gerais (UEMG), Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), Federal University of São João del-Rey (UFSJ), Methodist University Center Izabela Hendrix and Claretians degree course.
“Most of these entrance exams are divided into two stages: theoretical and practical. In music theory, the student will participate in classes that will address topics such as musical perception, harmony, solfeggio, dictation, music history, orchestration and musical analysis. In the practical part, musical performance will be worked on, in which teachers address issues such as posture, language, instrument techniques and the repertoire that will be required at the entrance exam “, explains Weberson.
In addition, students will be able to participate in simulations of the theoretical tests of the entrance exams and also work on psychological, postural and concentration aspects, so that they have the best possible performance in musical performance before the examining board of the entrance exam.
